Call for Speakers

Are you ready to speak at the first official WordCamp event in Lagos, Nigeria?

What topic should you apply with?

We accept ALL topics related to WordPress and beyond, and encourage them. The charm of WCLAGOS is that we welcome a diverse lineup of talented speakers to provide value to our broad audience. We are accepting talks from all areas of expertise and are also hoping to attract relevant experts from outside the WordPress world. If you have a topic you’re passionate about, don’t hesitate to apply!

How long should your presentation be?

We are planning the following session formats:

  • Regular talk – 45 minutes covering your core session and a Q&A session.
  • Regular Workshop talk – 60 minutes covering your core session and a Q&A session.
  • Extended Workshop talk – 90 minutes covering your core session and a Q&A session.

We would be having three main tracks and three concurrent breakout sessions.

Do I have to be an experienced speaker to apply?

WordCamp Lagos will be a large WordPress-related conference in Nigeria and West Africa so it is recommended that you have some speaking experience. Speaking in front of a large audience can be overwhelming even for more experienced speakers, which is why we want to lend a helping hand. This year, the Content Team will be  sharing resources and tips on how to put together a successful presentation as well as how to be more comfortable on stage.

When reviewing speaker applications, we will take your previous speaking experience into account. If you speak at any public event between your application time and the Word Camp Lagos, you can always let us know and we’ll update your application profile. If you haven’t already, there is still time to speak at our local meetups to gain more practice. Click here to join.
